PAINSCASTLE

Bridget’s book, Hay Before the Bookshops or The Beeman’s Family, has a chapter about life in rural Wales in 1949.  On 22 September, Bridget is holding an author event, A Child’s Year in Painscastle 1949 .  As a little girl, she was sent to walk over a mile to school at the wild ponies, gobble-gobble turkeys and a witch’s cottage.  Painscastle school closed in 1954 when this photograph was taken. The school is now the village hall.  Bridget is inviting local people, many of whom were children when the photo was taken, and looks forward to a lively evening.
